Pronombres
Know the direct and indirect object (compliment)
The direct object is the actual object.
The indirect object is the person that is getting the actual direct object.
Reflexives
Relevance to medical field: any procedure that is being done to someone is going to be reflexive (se).
Practice:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJCoZiYItv0&t=775s
For example:
- Maria toma radiografías
- Maria takes imaging (this is her job, what she does)
- Maria se toma radiografías
- Maria got imaging done on herself
- Ella se pone una vacuna
- She puts the vaccine on herself
- Maria le pone una vacuna a Jose
- Maria puts the vaccine to Jose
Lo & La
“Lo” & “La” are the equivalent of “It”
Spanish doesn’t have an It, so they have to use a direct object (Yo lo se).
“Hace” as “ago”
- Cuanto tiempo hace queue te graduate?
- Me gradué hace siete años.
- I graduated seven years “ago”.
- Me gradué hace siete años.
The simple rules for INTERROGATION are:
- If they ask you a question with a verb in –as, reply as –o (present tense)
- If they ask you a verb in –a, reply back with the same –a
- If they ask you a question in “Cual es,” reply back with “Cual es.”
And you MUST have these three given back:
- Pronoun
- Verb (see above, use a reflexive before or after)
- Preposition
ALBA Today 2/24/25: More CI and CD Practice
- Spanish doesn’t really use Gerunds!!!
- When giving something to somebody, use “a” (not para)
- When using both indirect and direct complements, you have to conjugate both CI and CD (direct/indirect objects)
Homework:
Redo previous homework Pronumbres sentences but with the third person AND change subjects
